About me

SYDNEY GALLAS is a New York based Costume Designer.

Recent Off-Broadway design credits include: Hundred Days (New York Theatre Workshop & The Public Theater’s UTR Festival); Knives in Hens (59E59). Other credits include: Matilda, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Man of La Mancha (Colorado Springs FAC); Oklahoma!, Anne of Green Gables, Really Rosie (Weston Playhouse); Eugene Onegine (LSU School of Music) Ariadne Auf Naxos (Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music); Peerless (Yale Repertory Theatre).

Recently, Sydney was the Associate Costume Designer for The Great Society on Broadway.  https://greatsocietybroadway.com/

She has assisted many notable costume designers including Gregg Barnes, Linda Cho, Marina Draghici, Jane Greenwood, Susan Hilferty, and Ann Hould-Ward  at respected institutions including The Public Theater, New York City Opera, Yale Repertory Theatre, the Williamstown Theater Festival, and on Broadway.

 

Sydney is the co-creator of The Missing Pages of Lewis Carroll, a play produced at Boston Court in Pasadena in 2015.

 

Sydney attended New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts' Playwrights Horizons Theatre School and the Technical Production Track for her undergraduate studies.  She completed her M.F.A. in Costume Design at  Yale School of Drama where she was the recipient of the Donald and Zorka Oenslager Scholarship in Stage Design and awarded the Jay and Rhonda Keene Prize for Costume Design.

She is a member of United Scenic Artists, Local USA 829.
